This document will serve as a place where we can document potential strategies players can use to increase their efficiency.
While there is a lot of fun stuff for Unicorns to do on the Land, the most important thing Unicorns should be doing is gathering. Gathering is the most lucrative activity to do at game launch, as it can reward Players with UNIM, RBW, seeds for Farming, items for Crafting, and even a small chance of Boosters.
You can send Unicorns to gather through the Cart. A Land can have only one cart maximum. If you own multiple lands, you should have a cart on each land. Carts have up to 3 Gathering Slots. You unlock the 2nd Gathering Slot at Cart Level 4, and the 3rd Gathering Slot at Cart Level 10. It is highly recommended to always make sure all Gathering slots are filled before you assign Unicorns elsewhere.
At the launch of CU, the main constraint to breeding/evolution will be plain berry & class berry production. This constraint will be amplified for players with low land counts, as the number of farm plots they can utilize will be minimal. We anticipate class berries to be a higher constraint than plain berries. Given that berry production will be vital in the first month of launch, it will be important to construct as many farm plots as possible and utilize any “free” Unicorns to work on the farm to increase production. Players can attempt to mitigate the berry constraint by using baby unicorns to work the land plots and “free” adult unicorns to gather. One way to think about it would be that baby unicorns are farming to obtain enough berries for their evolution.
Using Unicorns to gather will net you a lot of Plain Seeds over time. While you will also get Class Seeds, which Class Seeds you get through gathering is a lot more random. This means that you may struggle to get a lot of the Class Seeds that you care about, whereas you’ll always have a steady stream of Plain Seeds over time.
Since you’ll be unsure as to which Class Seeds you get through Gathering, it’s important to save Baby Unicorns for when you are using Class Seeds in Farming. Using a Unicorn when planting a seed will produce more berries than when not using a Unicorn (even better is using a Unicorn whose class matches the Land). While the yield on planting Plain Seeds onto Farms without Unicorns will be less, it’s better to maximize Class Berry output than Plain Berry output, as you can always reliably get more plain seeds through Gathering.
While it may be tempting to sell excess Class Berries on the Rainbow Token Marketplace, Class Berries do many other things besides evolve your Baby Unicorns. You can use Class Berries to restore energy to Unicorns as well as to get better Gathering Rewards when you send a Unicorn to Gather.
It’s best to keep a good supply of Class Berries whose class relates to your Unicorn. This allows you to spend Class Berries to get better Gathering Rewards as well as restore energy to Unicorns whose energy is at 0. If you don’t have certain classes of Unicorns, those class seeds/berries are ideal for selling to the Rainbow Token Marketplace.
While Crafting is the most straightforward way of getting items to use in building upgrades or other crafting recipes, it’s not necessarily the most efficient way. While the Workshop lets you choose what exactly you want to produce, Crafting requires you to dedicate an Adult Unicorn to the Workshop for the crafting time as well as spend one or more Unicorn Energy. Some crafting recipes also require UNIM!
A better strategy might be to earn items randomly through Gathering. A lot of items can be found randomly through Gathering. Instead of spending Unicorn Energy and potentially UNIM to craft what you need, spend a few days or weeks gathering and then only craft what you are missing for that next building upgrade or advanced crafting recipe. The Unicorns that aren’t wasted can be put to better use, and you’ll save on some UNIM too!
To get a greater quantity and quality of items from Gathering, it is important to use Unicorns whose class matches the land the Cart is on AND to spend class berries of that Unicorn.
